| I was making this set for "Cougar Bachelorette", but I quickly figured out I had bit off more than I could chew. After hours of sewing on hospital scrubs, a bed curtain and matching couch cushions for my waiting room, I realized it was still going to look simple and somewhat incomplete (without cool hospital machines and equipment). But at least it will still get the point across what the rooms were, and that's what mattered. I also constructed a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff from cutting an old pair of ear phones for a stereo and using beads and cloth. The set itself is 2 rooms - waiting room and hospital room made from foam board walls and floor. I used wallpaper samples from the free books I get at Wallpapers To Go that are discontinued for the walls and floor carpeting. (Couch and chair by Weavers2Upholstery...thank you Kimberlee!!!!). The wood door is a piece of wood I got from the hardware store, cut to size, then super glued a long silver bead onto it for a door knob. The curtain has Velcro loops that wrapped around a large hoop I got at Michael's crafts. I set it on top of of a dowel to support it across the foam board walls. (Bed is a foam mattress I sewed that sits on top of a wood kitchen table I made, it was the best height for the job) I also made a make-shift IV by using a tiny jewelry plastic bag, filling it with water, then using jewelry metal post to hook into it and connect it to a Barbie living room lamp post. I used the same ear phones wire and taped both ends. If you want to see the set in action, it's here in Week 7 of Cougar Bachelorette: Cougar Bachelorette Have a wonderful diorama Tuesday everyone!!! |
