DeeDee visits Pauline in British Columbia

DeeDee arrives in Duncan, British Columbia, Canada!!!

"Hey! I made it here! I am now in the West Coast of Canada.  I am visiting Pauline. She lives in the woods on two acres.  The weather here is so nice that I was happy to change into something more "spring" like!!!  We've got a lot planned here, and I'll keep you posted on what we are doing!!!"

"Hello!"

Explored the forest today!

"Had a fun filled, sunny day for my first adventure on the west coast."

"Saw some beautiful wild flowers.  The Trillium is the official flower of Ontario but they grow in BC too."

"Made some Forest Friends..." "Pauline's Italian Greyhounds tagged along."

Wow! We had a slumber party last night...

"I invited some of Pauline's girls into the guest room after everyone had gone to bed. I borrowed a nighty as I must have forgotten to pack mine!"

"The drinks really started flowing...wow what gossip you can find out after a few mixed drinks!!!"

"Lace wanted us to go to bed as she usually sleeps in the guest room..."

"The next morning Pauline said, 'get out of bed sleepy head!!  There are more adventures in Duncan!'"

Went for another walk in the woods today

"I borrowed some more clothes from the Silkies that live here, just in case I get dirty!!!  I love visiting the country but it is NOT quiet here!  The birds chirp all day and just when you think they are going to bed, the frogs start up!"

"Just outside the fence was this lovely patch of Forget-me-nots."

"There is the prettiest little creek that meanders through the property and all the way to the Cowichan River. You can get an idea of what the trees are like from the fallen ones across the creek.  Sorry I am a little blurry in this shot. I must have moved just as the camera was clicking!"

"Here is another shot by the creek of a giant (at least to me) skunk cabbage!"

Even More Adventures in Duncan!!!

"I spent a lot of time at Pauline’s sister’s acreage across the road this week as Pauline was playing “Rent a Mother” to her two nephews!!!  Here are some of the highlights!!!

"This is the Nubian goat 'U'!!!  She is soooo sweet!!!  A real character!"

“Mike the llama shares her run.  Pauline gave me a boost so I could get in the picture without being eaten by the goat!"

"Here is Simon the Seal Point Siamese.  He likes to sit on the kitchen table.  The two nephews refused to be on camera with a doll but you can see part of one of them in this shot!!!"

Still in Canada but will be leaving soon...

"But before I go..."

"I had to walk the 'dogs'!  These are some of Pauline's figurines.  She's collected them for herself but shares them with her ladies!"

"I learned about the First Nations who have lived here for hundreds of years (or according to some archeologists, thousands of years)."

"I hung out on the antiques. Pauline believes that antiques should be used, and not just museum pieces."

"I learned about the west coast shipping industry through Pauline’s husband’s exhibition in a special display cabinet. Don’t you think Pauline should have something to display her doll collection in if he has his display cabinet??? (we will leave it up to them to work it out...)."

"...and I made some new friends!!!"

"Had a great time hanging out with some vintage ladies and some celebrities!!!"

"Here is a picture of me with Pauline's vintage decorator dolls."

Last parting picture before I went to the airport (actually the post office...)

"Thanks for letting me tell you about my stay here.  Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did."

"The Dogwood is the official flower for British Columbia. They were in bloom my whole time here!"
